Introduction to chakras and an overview
Chakras are meridian points on the spinal cord where the energy meridians are forming coils. A Meridian is an ‘energy highway’ or energetic vein in the human body. Prana or life force energy flows through the meridians, accessing all parts of the body.
When interference between energy meridians takes place, the hot channel & cold channel, a swirling effect or tornado gets created at the central canal along the spinal cord. The main point at which this swirling effect is located is a chakra. The literal meaning of chakra in Sanskrit translates to the wheel, denoting the rotating effect happening at the energy centre.
The seven chakras in the human body
There are 7 main chakras within the physical body, 5 chakras immediately outside the body and 100 other chakras beyond that. The chakra system is located throughout our body and relates to specific body ailment, physical dysfunctions, emotions and personal power.
The 7 main chakras within the physical human body, starting from the base of the spine and going upwards are:
- Root Chakra – Energy centre located at the base of the spine (perineum), that regulates your support system, structure, reproductory organs and is connected to personal grounding and strength.
- Sacral/sexual Chakra – located at the lower abdomen, influences reproductory organs and other related organs and is known for the ability to taste food.
- Solar Plexus Chakra – located at navel area (upper abdomen), influences stomach, liver, and other parts in the vicinity, and an emotional level signifies power, manifestation, courage and confidence.
- Heart Chakra – located at the centre of the chest, influences the heart and lungs, radiates the energy of bliss, compassion and kindness.
- Throat Chakra – located at throat and neck area, associated with “speak your truth”, expression and speech.

Why & how do chakras get blocked?
Chakras allow the flow of energy to reach every part of our physical and auric bodies. They control the release of Prana energy, the life force, in our bodies. The prana energy is essential for a healthy & vibrant life. This energy gets blocked due to some emotional issues, beliefs, Pitru dosh (ancestral defect), Guru Dosh (teacher defect) or any other karmic baggage. It stops your focus and breaks down your health, wealth and prosperity
How do you know if your chakras are blocked?
Everything you create and attract in your life depends on the health of your chakras. Based on what is inside your chakra, you attract. Hence, when you see imbalances in health, issues with finances and relationships, it is an indicator of corresponding chakras being blocked. . Hence, any imbalance in any aspect of our life is directly connected to our chakras, indicating a blockage or obstruction to energy flow.
How do you strengthen & activate your chakras?
Chakra healing and balancing are fundamental to your well-being to achieve the fulfilment of all highest desires of life – health, family, relationships and prosperity.
The issues in your life, whether related to health or finance or relationships, can be correlated to each chakra. Every cause has an effect. If you feel that you’re getting punished more than you deserve or getting rewarded more than you deserve, the cause behind such effects could be the karma of your soul, the karma of your ancestors through your DNA, or the karma of your environment (such as your company or place you were born in). Hence, complete chakra healing happens only when karma is healed.
It has been observed that divorce, family fights, money troubles, difficult bosses, and even health issues such as diabetes, infertility, chronic pain, and depression are experiences people have due to karma.
Karma Yoga Healing is a technique that reveals how everything works through the Law of Karma (cause & effect). It is the only healing technique in the world by which we can consciously switch to a deep & relaxed state of mind, called Delta brain frequency, and with practice even beyond to Samadhi state (transcendence), where we can heal any issue and initiate a new and better reality for ourselves. It is a universal, non-religious technique that can be practised by anyone, anywhere in the world. And chakra healing is easily achieved with this practice.
What is chakra balancing?
To activate each energy centre, align them and pull up the energy along the spinal cord is chakra balancing. This happens with consistent practice of chakra based meditations such as the one taught at Karma Guru Academy. Additionally, karma yoga healing helps in making the chakras stronger through specific work on karmic issues that affect the chakras.
